I am a tremendous NBA hoop fan in a city with no NBA team, Seattle, Washington. Our Sonics left town in 2008 for OKC. The current champ of the NBA. It was like a family member had died when our Supersonics left.
So as a result I had to follow the many NBA players from Seattle like Jamal “J Crosscover” Crawford and Brandon Roy and Nate Robinson and Jason “The Jet” Terry and many others from the town. Plus order NBA League pass to watch hella games to add to the games on TNT.
Now of course TNT no longer has the NBA so that means no more Kenny “The Jet” Smith and big Shaq and EJ and Barkley on “Inside The NBA” on TNT.
It is now on NBC. And games are streaming on Peacock. And of course, games on ESPN. I like to watch exciting players like Ja Morant and Anthony Edawards. They do things on the crowd that makes you say “DAMN, I know he didn’t do that.”
High flying dunks and great passes. Those two I hope to see in person play in our Climate Pledge Arena when ever the HELL Adam Silver makes the announcement that our Sonics are returning. I am not a spring chicken readers!!
And NBA legend and Hall of Fame member as a HC and player and a Seattle area resident Lenny Wilkens passed at 88 recently.
A statue was put in front of Climate Pledge of Lenny. He did not have a chance to see the return of his beloved Sonics. A team he coached to the NBA title in 1979. RIP to Coach Wilkens.
As I said I am a big fan of Edwards and Morant, but both of them need to mature as adults. Edwards has been fined over $400,000 for his bad language in interviews. Cussing like he is at the local African American barber shop or in the hood with the brothas. Like he is hangin out at Earls Cut and Style here in Seattle. Needs to learn to STOP with cussing in press conferences.
His parents need to talk with him. His agent needs to talk with him too. It is a terrible look for sure. The cussing is not needed. He is being a leader when it comes to marketing of the NBA via commercials etc.
I am seeing more and more commercials on TV featuring Edwards. He is slowly becoming the face of the NBA. His team, the Timberwolves have to do better in the NBA playoffs. Will Ja be traded from Memphis? Do not see Ja doing many commercials like Antman.
Ja just has to mature as a young man just like Edwards. Both are so exciting to watch on the court and it is very very sad that I living here in Seattle cannot watch Ja and Edwards play in person because our Sonics have not returned yet.
Maybe by the time our Sonics return Morant and Edwards will be superstars on the court and off the court. We will see.
