“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey
I am a hoops junky. I LOVE the game of basketball. I just do. In my opinion they are the most gifted athletes in pro sports.
Guys and gals ladies and gentlemen. When it comes to the fellas, guys that are over 6-6 doing remarkable things on the hardwood. Hell look at the career of “Magic” Johnson. He is 6-9 and look at the things he did in the NBA! Hell, look at Big Victor of the Spurs. He is 7-4! The things he can do is amazing. AND HE IS GETTING TALLER AND BETTER!!
A 6-9 point guard folks!! Unreal!! Sports fans say former guest on my media Michael Jordan is the best ever. BUT I say Magic.
Anyway, we can debate who is the best another time with Lebron of course on the mix. Let’s discuss what is going on now in 2025. The OKC Thunder just won the 2025 NBA title led by SHA who won the regular season MVP and the MVP of the Finals. The Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers in 7 games to win the title.
The Pacers lost there best player, Tyrese Haliburton to a terrible injury and so after that it was curtains for the Pacers. And OKC went on to win their first title.
But I am here to discuss the return of our Seattle Sonics. The team and it’s owner Clay Bennett moved the team to OKC in 2008. As a NBA junky it was one of the worse days for me ever. My NBA team was gone. I covered the Sonics in morning shootarounds for over 15 years.
The Sonics and visiting teams. I was very very lucky to interview many big NBA stars like Charles Barkley, Phil Jackson, Shaq, Rip Hamilton, Chris Webber, Coach George Karl, Gary Payton, Shawn Kemp and many more INCLUDING A EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW WITH MJ in 1998!!
Imagine how we Sonics fans felt watching OKC celebrate a title. It was TERRIBLE! It is time for Adam Silver to make the announcement that our Sonics will return to the NBA.
The name is NOW!! We have the beautiful Climate Pledge Arena, we have folks who want to be involved in the new Sonics team. Folks like former Seahawks QB and former guests on my media, Russell Wilson, Gary Payton, Lenny Wilkens, Kevin Durant and others.
What is the delay? Don’t wait until Hall of Fame member Lenny Wilkens is no longer here on earth to enjoy the return. He has a street named after him. A new statue of him at Climate Pledge. It is time for Silver to make the announcement.
Foe sure we here in Seattle will miss watching Lebron play in person and other great players. This is very very sad as a NBA fan.
Finally many of us here in Seattle want to see GP, Kemp, Coach Karl jersey etc go up in the rafters of Climate Pledge along with Lenny, “Downtown” Freddie Brown, “The Wizrd” the late Gus Williams, “DJ” the late Dennis Johnson and “The Voice” Bob Blackburn.
I will be back with more news and views about the return of OUR Seattle Sonics.
