New Respect For Taylor Swift/Letterman Retires

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

taylorswiftpicAs a person who loves music. All types of music, though the years of producing “Music Inner City Television” I have seen artists come and I have seen them go after one hit. One hit wonders as they say.

But young artists come along when they are teenagers and keep growing as a artist and they prove they will not be one hit wonders. Artists like Usher, Beyonce, Lil Wayne and others including a artist that started out singing country type music and I have to say I love music but I am not a big fan of country music. I just have to tell the truth.

This artist I am talking about is Taylor Swift. I have a new found respect for Taylor. She has shown me and the most important point her fans that she is here to stay. Taylor is just producing hit cd after hit cd.  She can go country if she wants or go pop if she wants like she has done lately. It does not matter. Swift produces hits for her millions of fans all over the world. Even if you are not a fan of her music, you have to respect Taylor Swift.

And she also seems to be a very down to earth young lady and it seems her great success has not gone to her head and it seems she really cares about her fans. This past week Taylor packed in more awards at the Billboard Music Awards in Las Vegas. And her new music video was shown that features rapper Kendrick Lamar. The song is off the chain. Another hit for sure by Taylor Swift.

THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMANDavid Letterman Reires: As I type this article it is the day talk show legend David Letterman is having his last program of  “Late Night With David Letterman” He is retiring after 33 years behind the microphone.

Letterman is the best late night talk show host in my opinion. Some say he is better than Johnny Carson. But one thing for sure Letterman retires as a entertainment legend.

Dave also gave a lot of hip-hop and r&b artists a national stage to peform in front of millions of people, Letterman had every genre of music artists on his program through the years. Country, pop, hip-hop, rap, r&b, classic soul artist and on and on. Every big comic has appeared on Letterman. Of course big Hollywood stars got interviewed by Dave as well as Presidents like President Clinton and President George W. Bush and of course President Obama.

We do not know what Letterman will do in retirement. Will he just go fishing and enjoy his millions or will he make a appearence on TV once in awhile. I know he has a NASCAR team too.  Wish the best to David Letterman and thanks for all the entertainment you brought to us for 33 years.

Here is a short interview “Music Inner City TV” did with David Letterman’s band leader Paul Shaffer a few years ago in Los Angeles.
