Today I watched the press conference held by new Seattle Seahawk head coach Pete Carroll and I was under impressed.
The ex-SC head coach did not charge me up. He is a hyper kind of dude and if you are not careful he can fool you. Keep in mind, he is not at Southern Cal anymore. He is back in the NFL where he was 33-31 in his previous work as head coach in the pros.
He says he is a better head coach now after being away from the pros and winning title after title in college football. We will see.
Here is my problem folks. The problem is Leslie Frazier. He is a African American assistant coach with the Vikings. He is well qualified to become a head football coach in the NFL. Read his bio above.
The Seattle Seahawks played a game with Frazier. They used him. The Hawks interviewed him just to satisfy the “Rooney Rule”. The “Rooney Rule” was made to make sure African Americans are interviewed for job openings in the NFL. The Hawks used him as a “token”. There is for sure.
They already had in the pocket the hiring of Pete Carroll as the next head coach of the Hawks to replace Jim Mora Jr. who was fired after only one year. Keep in mind, Mora Jr. was hired without the Hawks doing any kind of interview for a head coach. He was already on the coaching staff of the Hawks.
Frazier had to do the interview or he might be “blackballed” for future interviews with teams. But the bottom line is the Seattle Seahawks did not want Leslie Frazier as the next head coach of the team. He was a token interview and this is a doggone shame.
So let’s see about the general manager of the Hawks which is open. I think their is a African American in the running. I will keep you informed on this right here on “M.I.C News Magazine”.
