Will The Seattle Mariners Interview A African American To Be The Next Manager?

“One Man’s Opinion” by Gordon Curvey

The Seattle Mariners has a opening for their next manager

After Dan Wilson was let go and for sure Wilson, is aa nice fella but in my opinion and many others, He should not even been named as the manager of the Mariners.

Yes the Mariners almost made it to the World Series in 2025. But they did not make it. This is the bottom line and this season was a total flat out disappointment. Mariners fans are pissed off!

So let’s get to the point of my story. So far as always in MLB, white guys are being named as the next manager for the Mariners. Remember there is only TWO AFRICAN AMERICAN MANAGERS IN MLB.

And both by the way are playing in the MLB playoffs!! Fromer guest on “Sports Inner City TV” two times in the row WS championship manager of the L.A. Dodgers Dave Roberts and the manager of the Chicago White Sox, Will Venable,

The late great Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron WOULD NOT BE HAPPY AT ALL readers!! Mix that in with ONLY 60-70 African American players in MLB in each of the last few seasons.

And with young African American kids turning from the sport of baseball to play football and hoops by age 12. Most cannot name ONE MLB player white or black. These are facts!!

MLB has a SEVERE problem when it comes to African Americans. Also African Americans DO NOT attend MLB games including here in Seattle at T-Mobile Park. It is shocking readers.

When I listen to KJR and 710 sports radio the mainly white hosts are just bringing up and white manager when it comes to the next Mariners manager.

Let’s look at some names the Mariners should interview for the open Mariners manager position.

Tori Hunter, Demarlo Hale, Gary Jones, Mickey Brantley, Darrell Coles, Delino Deshield, Barry Larkin, Kieth Mitchell, Bo Porter, R.J. Reynolds, Derrel Thomas, Willie Upshaw, Ron Washington, U.I. Washington,

Yes because they are African American, just about all the names I mentioned have zero experience as a MLB manager.

BUT they should have experience. But they are not getting interviews, The question is WHY? White guys are getting hella interviews of course. THIS IS WRONG ladies and gentlemen. WRONG!!

The Seattle Mariners need to interview a Tori Hunter or a Ron Washington or a Bo Porter. Washington and Porter have been a MLB manager. Why not Darnell Coles or Mickey Brantley? And others?

Again when I listen to sports radio here in Seattle and even white sports hosts on TV they are mentioning ALL WHITE POSSIBLE REPLACEMENTS for Dan Wilson.

Jackie Robinson and Hank Aaron are looking down from heaven and are not happy with ONLY two African American managers in MLB as well as African Americans not even getting a damn interview!!!”

I thought MLB had the “Selig Rule” where teams are REQIRED to consider minority candidates for senior positions and that includes A MANAGER!!

So let’s see IF the Mariners interview African American(s) for the new manager of the team. And not have a “token” interview too!!
